New Zealand teen phenom Lydia Ko is at it again.
Ko, 16, made a strong move against a strong field in windy, difficult conditions Saturday at the Swinging Skirts World Ladies Masters in a bid to win her fifth professional title.
With a 4-under-par 68 at Linkou Miramar Golf Club in New Taipei, Ko passed first-round leader Inbee Park, the Rolex world No. 1, to move into second place, a shot behind So Yeon Ryu (68), who stands atop the leaderboard at 9-under overall. Ryu is No. 5 in the Rolex world rankings and Ko is No. 6.
Park struggled with a 76 in winds reported to be gusting to 40 mph She fell into third place, four shots off the lead. Only six players broke par in Saturday's blustery conditions. Four of the top seven players in the world rankings are in the 95-player field.
Taiwan’s own Yani Tseng struggled to a second-round 78 and sits tied for 18th going into the final round. It’s her first tournament back since undergoing hernia surgery. American Paula Creamer (74) also is tied for 18th.
