The LPGA season will come to a close Sunday, but not before many of the game's biggest stars battle each other for the largest first-place prize of the year. Here's what You Oughta Know heading into the final round of the CME Group Titleholders:

• After a 7-under 65 in the third round, Natalie Gulbis holds a share of the lead as she looks for her first LPGA win since the 2007 Evian Masters. Gulbis has had a disappointing 2013 campaign, with her tie for ninth at the Ricoh Women's British Open serving as her only top-10 finish to date, but her round Saturday at Tiburon was her lowest score of the year by three shots.

• Both Gerina Piller and Pornanong Phatlum will play alongside Gulbis Sunday, and enter the final round with a share of the lead in search of their first career LPGA win. Piller was a member of the losing U.S. Solheim Cup team in August, while Phatlum's consistent play has netted her six top-10 finishes this year, including a tie for second at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic.

• With her 9-under 63 in the second round, Stacy Lewis essentially wrapped up the Vare Trophy for low stroke average, and will become the first American to win the award since Beth Daniel in 1994. With Sunday's winner receiving a $700,000 check, though, Lewis could also top the season-long money list as she sits just two shots off the pace. No American player has won both awards since Betsy King completed the sweep in 1993.

• Having cracked the top 10 in the Rolex Rankings last week, Lexi Thompson is in position to contend for her second win in a row, and third victory in her last five starts. The teen won for the second time in her LPGA career last month in Malaysia, then took home the Lorena OchoaInvitational title last week in Mexico. After a 5-under 67 Saturday, Thompson moved back into a tie for fourth and will start the final round just two shots behind the co-leaders.

• Quietly lurking on the first page of the leaderboard is Michelle Wie, who sits alone in eighth place, three shots off the pace, after a 6-under 66 in the third round. Wie is looking to capitalize on a late-season run of good form, one that has seen the 24-year-old notch three top-12 finishes in her last four starts overall, including a tie for third last month at the KEB Hana Bank Championship.

• Like Wie, Shanshan Feng is looking to cap a second-half surge that has seen her name consistently on leaderboards for the last two months. Feng won last month in her native China at the Reignwood LPGA Classic, then followed that up with a second-place showing in Malaysia. She now sits alongside Thompson and Lewis in a tie for fourth, two shots behind, heading into the final round as she looks to capture her third career LPGA title.
