Keegan Bradley took to Twitter on Monday evening to apologize for spitting frequently down the stretch of the Northern Trust Open. The PGA champion was spitting during his pre-shot routine, seemingly unaware of it.
“Id like to apologize for my spitting,” Bradley tweeted. “It's like a reflex, I don’t even know I’m doing it, but it's a longtime habit I’ve got to try to conquer.”
Bradley was criticized heavily in social media for the nervous tic in the Riviera final round, particularly among European viewers. Other players were shown spitting on Sunday, including Pat Perez and Dustin Johnson.
Coincidentally, it was 53 weeks ago when Tiger Woods apologized on Twitter for spitting on the 12th green of Emirates GC in the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic.
Bradley was also chided for playing slowly, often with several false starts before swinging the golf club.
The final trio of Bradley, Phil Mickelson and Bryce Molder took 5 hours, 10 minutes to finish the final lap around Hogan's Alley.
