"There are a lot of golfers who have had a great couple of years and many young guys who will be looking to keep us older guys at bay," Woods said in an interview with the U.A.E.-based Gulf News. Woods ended the year at No. 23 in the rankings after dropping outside the top 50, his lowest ranking since October 1996 in his rookie season. . A season-ending win at the Chevron World Challenge boosted his ranking and provided some momentum heading into his '12 debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Chamionship (Jan. 26-29). The 14-time major winner joked after the win in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that he is on the right path of the comeback trail. "I feel pretty good going into next year. I think if I have a good year I should be on the ballot for Comeback Player of the Year, so I'm excited about that," he said.
