PITTSFORD, N.Y. ?Locust Hill isn뭪 the kind of place to find your game.
Michelle Wie never had a chance this week at the Wegmans LPGA Championship, not on this course뭩 narrow fairways and not with its barbed wire rough and its tiny greens. And not with a swing and putter that still aren뭪 back to form.
With a 10-over-par 82 Friday, Wie missed her sixth consecutive cut, five in LPGA events and one on the Japanese LPGA Tour.
Though Wie wasn뭪 happy with the round, she stopped to answer questions afterward.
밒 hit a lot of good shots today, even if they didn뭪 turn out well,?Wie said. 밒 went at every single shot, like I used to. I played aggressive. ?On some of those shots I was a little bit too aggressive.?/P>
Wie didn뭪 make a birdie. She hit just four fairways and just nine greens in regulation, and she took a whopping 37 putts. Still, she sounded determined to find the silver lining that will get her back to form.
밃s frustrating as it was today, I just had a lot of bad breaks,?Wie said. 밒t뭩 one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. It just kind of all went wrong today. But, the thing is, I hit some good shots, had some bad bounces, had some really bad lies. I had a couple bad club selections with the wind today. The wind was tricky. I short-sided myself a couple times, and the next thing you know, I뭢 shooting 10 over par. As frustrating as it is, there were a lot of positives I learned this week. It will be there. It will get there.?/P>
There is no LPGA event next week, but Wie plans to jump right back into action at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Canada in two weeks.
Next week, Wie has special plans. She will take part in Stanford뭩 graduation ceremony and officially receive her degree with a major in communications.
밒뭢 pretty excited,?Wie said.
