Philippines holds off South Korea to win Women’s World Cup of Golf. SUN CITY, South Africa, Jan. 20, 2008 – The duo of Dorothy Delasin and Jennifer Rosales won the 2008 Women’s World Cup of Golf at the Gary Player Country Club this weekend. In a field of 40 women representing 20 countries, the Philippines defeated the South Korean team (61-72-67=200, -6) of LPGA Tour . The teams entered the final round of best-ball tied at 11-under-par. Delasin and Rosales of Team Philippines were 13-under after three holes, but a three-stroke swing on hole five gave Team South Korea the lead after Team Philippines posted a bogey and Team South Korea carded an eagle; Ji-Yai Shin chipped in from 10 feet on the par-5, 492-yard fifth hole. Rosales earned birdies on holes 11 and 12 to tie the score, but Delasin was unstoppable with four consecutive birdies to close out the round and give the duo the win after South Korea was only able to post birdies on holes 14 and 18. (65-68-65).
