2007 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament Lickliter Cruising Along at Q-School By Sports Network - December 02, 2007 PGA Tour (75x100)WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- Frank Lickliter II shot a 4-under 68 on Sunday -- his fifth round of par or better -- to extend his lead to five shots at the PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament. Lickliter stands at 28-under 332 for the second-lowest 90-hole total at Q- school since the PGA TOUR began keeping statistics in 1992. Five of the last six fifth-round leaders at Q-school have gone on to win the tournament on the next day, a list Lickliter will get a chance to join in the final round on Monday. Lickliter broke scoring records at both host courses this week, firing 62s at Panther Lake on Wednesday and Crooked Cat on Thursday. He began the day with a three-shot lead on Jason Allred, who ended up posting a 72 on Sunday to fall seven shots back. Brett Rumford pulled into second place with a 68, but was five shots behind Lickliter at 23-under 337. Chris Stroud fired a 64 and stood alone in third place at 22-under 338, one shot in front of Allred. Tag Ridings had a 67 and shared fifth place with Tommy Gainey (69) and Travis Perkins (69) at 340. Cody Freeman (64) was eighth at 341, and Dustin Johnson (66) and Jin Park (68) were another shot further back at 342. Lickliter played the Panther Lake course on Sunday and made an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys. He led by four shots going into his 16th hole -- the par-5 seventh -- before making his eagle to extend the advantage to six. Lickliter has said he won't speak to the media until the final round is over Monday. The top-25 finishers and ties at the end of the six-round marathon will earn 2008 PGA TOUR cards, while the next number of players nearest 50 will get full Nationwide Tour exemptions. The remaining players in the 166-man field will receive conditional Nationwide Tour status next year. The fifth round was delayed for 30 minutes due to heavy fog, the third day this week that fog has forced a delay.
