Hee-Won captures LPGA Thailand title Oct. 22, 2006 GolfWeb Wire Services CHONBURI, Thailand -- South Korea's Hee-Won Han captured her sixth career title Sunday after carding a 5-under 67 in the $1.3 million LPGA Thailand at the Amata Spring Country Club. Trailing by two shots going into the final round, the defending champion finished with a sizzling 14-under-par 202 after three days of play. Hee-Won, energized by a devastating performance of two-day leader American Nicole Castrale, scored birdies on holes 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 14 and 17 and bogeys at holes 9, 16 and 18. "This is my sixth title but it is the first time I won by five strokes," said the winner. In second place was American Diana D'Alessio who shot a 2-under 70 for a total of nine-under 207. The 31-year-old and world No. 63 bogeyed twice on the fourth and ninth holes but stepped up the pace in the back nine to birdie holes 10, 15 and 18. It was a disappointing ending for Castrale who managed only a joint third with an 8-under 208 after firing a 75 Sunday. Taiwanese Candie Kung and South Korean Gloria Park shared the third spot. Christie Kerr, No. 4 on the money list, finished at joint third with a seven-under 209 along with Sweden's Carin Koch and two Americans - Brittany Lang, and Christina Kim. "Perhaps when I got to the 15th hole, actually after the ninth hole, I played pretty comfortably. I thought I played pretty good today and I am very happy about the win," Hee-Won said. "Actually, on the first hole I didn't hit the green but on the second I made a birdie and I was having all perfect iron shots. My irons and my putting were pretty good today." D'Alession said that her putting saved her "because I didn't really hit the ball all that well today." "I had a lot of four, five, six footers for par. I pretty much made them all," she said.
