Mi Hyun Kim wins inaugural Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open Ochoa, Webb share runner-up honors REUNION, Fla., April 30, 2006 ?For Mi Hyun Kim the hardest part about winning the inaugural Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open was overcoming her own nerves. 밒 was so nervous to play because I did not have a win in three or four years,?said Kim, who beat hard-charging Lorena Ochoa and Karrie Webb by two shots at the $2.5 million event, held at Reunion Resort & Club. 밒f I lost today, maybe I never win again, so this win is big for me.? It is big in more ways then one. The $375,000 first-place paycheck is the fifth largest paycheck a winner will cash this year on the LPGA Tour. The diminutive Kim, 70-66-69-71=276 (-12), can now breathe a big sigh of relief, as there is nothing to be nervous about anymore. The win is the sixth of Kim's career and her first since 2002, snapping a winless streak that spanned 103 tournaments. Her last wins came in 2002 when she won the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic and the Wendy's Championship for Children in consecutive weeks. This week, she took the lead after the second round and never relinquished it, although she made things interesting with a final-round 71 that included four bogeys and five birdies. All the while, Ochoa and Webb, who have both won this year, started climbing the leaderboard. Ochoa birdied five of her first seven holes en route to a closing 6-under-par 66. Webb, who opened the tournament with a 3-over-par 75, shot a final-round 67 with the help of four birdies on her last nine holes. When Kim approached the 17 th tee뾞 daunting 508-yard, par 5뾥er final-round three-shot lead had shrunk to one. Instead of succumbing to the nerves, she overcame them in a big way. Kim, who is listed at 5'1? muscled a 280-yard drive down the fairway and was able to reach the green in two with a 7-wood. 밫hat was even a surprise to me,?said Kim, who moved from 17 th to third on the ADT Official Money List. 밫hat club is No. 1.
