Se Ri Pak is a perfectionist. During the off-season or when she's at home in Orlando, Florida, between tour events, she'll often work six days a week with me, in sessions of three hours or more. She never leaves the course or range until she feels she's accomplished something. Se Ri won five tournaments including one major in 2002 and finished second on the money list with $1.7 million. But she still wants to improve. We've been working on her backswing turn, which tends to leave her shoulders too level at the top of the backswing. This causes her to block shots to the right, especially with her driver; she finished a lackluster 33rd in driving accuracy on tour last year. But with all the work she's put in, that's about to change. In this swing sequence you can see some of what she's achieved so far. At the top of her swing she's maintained the spine angle established at address, her shoulders are perpendicular to her spine and the clubshaft is parallel to the ground -- a perfect position from which to swing the club down on plane and with a lot of speed. Se Ri has all the determination and competitive drive she needs. If she can hit a few more fairways, she'll be tough to beat.
