I've worked hard to improve my swing both technically with help from Ian Triggs, my teacher back home in Australia, and physically through a rigorous cardio- and strength-training program. My commitment is not for the fainthearted: a minimum of five days a week in the gym--two days lifting weights and three more getting my heart rate up. The results are gratifying--I've never felt stronger, fitter or more confident.
My new physique has helped my ball-striking--I'm hitting the ball farther and straighter with all my clubs, including the 4-wood that I'm hitting here and in the sequence photos that follow. Swinging back and through with an even tempo allows me to time the hit better. And a stronger and more stable lower body helps me get maximum clubhead speed. I carry my 4-wood 200 yards and can get the ball to stop on any green. Read below, and I'll show you how I do it.
