Annika Sorenstam Commits to Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill Forty-Nine of the Top 50 LPGA Tour Players Commit to Compete for $2.2 Million Purse More at www.anheuser-busch.com WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 14, 2005) - The world's top LPGA Tour player Annika Sorenstam, who tied Nancy Lopez's record for consecutive wins in tournament starts, could attempt to break this record at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, scheduled May 5 - 8. Sorenstam currently is not scheduled to compete prior to the Michelob ULTRA Open. She tied Lopez's record of five consecutive wins with her recent Kraft Nabisco Championship victory last month. Other top golfers who are scheduled to play in the third annual Michelob ULTRA Open include defending champion Se Ri Pak, 2003 champion Grace Park, Lorena Ochoa, Juli Inkster, Meg Mallon, Cristie Kerr, Karen Stupples, Mi Hyun Kim, Hee-Won Han and Jennifer Rosales. A premier field of LPGA golfers will vie for their share of the $2.2 million purse. The winner will earn $330,000. "The Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill is shaping up as one of the top tournaments on the LPGA Tour again this year and we're happy to have commitments from so many of the world's best women golfers," said Wayne Nooe, tournament director, Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill. "We know the fans will be excited that Annika will return for the third year and the possibility of her breaking the 'most consecutive wins record' will bring a whole new element to the competition this year." The 2005 Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill will be broadcast live on ESPN2 Friday, May 6, through Sunday, May 8. The tournament will be played on the newly renovated River Course at Kingsmill Resort and Spa, owned and operated by Busch Properties, Inc., the real estate subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Companies.
