Korean teenager Song leads pack in Singapore Feb. 3, 2005 GolfWeb Wire Services SINGAPORE -- South Korean teenager Song Bo-bae fired a bogey-free 7-under 65 Thursday to lead the Samsung Ladies Masters after the first round. The 18 year old holds a one-shot lead over Finland's Minea Blomqvist at the $200,000 tournament, the first event on this year's Ladies European Tour. Sharing third place at Singapore's Laguna National Golf and Country Club were Spain's Elisa Serramia, Lynette Brooky of New Zealand and Kazue Tanaka from Japan at 4-under 68. "I gave myself excellent opportunities today," said Song of her five birdie, one eagle round. Her eagle came on the 448-yard par-5 11th hole. But Song played down her efforts, saying it was still too early to relax in the tournament. "Just because you had a good first round doesn't mean you can continue the same feel in the second round," she said. Laura Davies had a mixed day, but stayed just four behind Song with a 3-under 69 in windy conditions. Davies shot an eagle and five birdies against four bogeys, but maintained she was "pleased" with her score. "It's a good start, there's always something to look forward to," said the 41-year-old, six-time European Order of Merit champion. Blomqvist meanwhile, stood alone in second place after an eight-birdie, two-bogey round. "I was putting well, my main thing was to concentrate on every hole today and I did it pretty well, like one hole at a time," she said. The shot of the day however, belonged to France's Marine Monnet-Melocco who aced the par-3 146-yard 17th hole to win a car. Laguna also played host to last week's Caltex Masters, jointly sanctioned by the European Tour, and won by Nick Dougherty of England. The Associated Press.
