 조준상 로열르페이지 뉴컨셉 한인부동산 대표가 지난 3일(금) 캐나다내 최대 건설업체 중의 하나인 콩코드(Concord Adex)의 데니스 아우 영(Dennis Au-Yeung) CFO, 아이삭 챈(Isaac Chan) 영업부문 부사장과 자리를 함께 했다.  

 토론토 다운타운의 콩코드센터(Concord Presentation Centre, 88 Queens Wharf Rd.)에서 만난 조 대표와 데니스 CFO는 20여 년의 친분관계를 과시하듯 격의 없는 모습이었다.

 데니스 CFO는 한식당에서 20년 전 조 대표 부부와 만나 즐거운 대화를 나눈 기억을 소개하며 화목한 분위기를 이끌었다.

 아이삭 부사장도 5년 전 Yonge St. 선상의 한 레스토랑에서 조 대표 가족 및 중개인들과 함께 저녁식사와 맥주를 마셨던 얘기로 서로의 친밀함을 과시했다.

 이 자리에는 조성진(Richard Cho) 로열르페이지 한인부동산 매니저(현직 변호사)와 크리스틴 문 중개인이 함께했다.

 데니스 CFO에 따르면 콩코드는 1987년 밴쿠버에서 출발한 부동산 개발회사다. 1986년 세계 엑스포가 열렸던 밴쿠버 다운타운의 204 에이커 부지를 통째로 인수해 총 50억 달러 규모의 고급 고층콘도 주거지를 개발하면서 일약 유명해졌다. 이후 밴쿠버 다운타운에만 약 1만여 세대를 공급한 중견 건설업체로 우뚝 섰다.

 콩코드가 토론토에 진출한 것은 밴쿠버보다 10년 늦은 1997년이었으며, 환경친화적 주거공간인 시티플레이스(CityPlace)를 조성하기 시작했다. 다운타운의 스파다니아 애비뉴와 프론트 스트릿 인근의 온타리오 호수를 바라볼 수 있는 ‘도시 속의 오아시스’를 테마로 45에이커가 넘게 펼쳐진 공간에 카누랜딩공원(Canoe Landing Park)을 포함해 1만2000채 이상의 주거지를 만들어 왔다.

 특히 CN타워와 로저스센터 인근에 들어서는 Concord Canada House(23 Spadina Ave)는 가장 최근의 프로젝트로 78층, 69층의 초고층 2개 콘도가 완공되면 토론토의 스카이라인을 확 바꿔놓을 예정이다.  

 또한 한인들이 많이 거주하는 노스욕에 Concord Park Place를 조성하고 있으며, 45에이커 부지에 총 5000 유닛이 들어설 예정이다. 쉐퍼드 애비뉴와 레슬리 스트릿 인근에 위치해 있어, 지하철은 물론 401고속도로, GO트레인, 돈밸리파크웨이에 연결되는 교통요지다.

 베사리온 지하철역 뒤편으로 8에이커의 대규모 공원이 조성되며, 커뮤니티센터, 데이케어, 소매점, 학교 등이 들어선다. 또한 노스욕 종합병원이 가까이에 있는 것도 큰 장점이다.

 Concord Park Place에는 지난 2011년 Discovery 콘도를 시작으로 Tango와 Tango2가 들어섰다. Opus와 Omega 콘도가 올해, Seasons와 Saisons가 내년에 완공된다. 마지막으로 최고급 King's Landing 콘도가 세워져 백미를 장식한다.

 이곳엔 토론토에서 가장 큰 커뮤니티센터인 20만9,000 평방피트의 베사리온커뮤니티센터(BCC, 1011 Sheppard Ave. E.)가 들어선다. 과거 캐네디언타이어가 소유했던 부지를 콩코드에서 매입해 토론토시에 커뮤니티센터 용도로 제공했기 때문이다.

 BCC는 대형 도서관, 공립 유치원, 수영장, 3만8,000 평방피트의 레크리에이션 시설과 196대 지하 주차장 등을 갖춘 대규모 3층 빌딩이 된다.

 아이삭 부사장은 “토론토는 국제적인 도시이고 기반시설이 잘 갖춰져 있기 때문에 선호하고 있다”며 “외곽지역도 발전가능성이 높은 곳이라면 얼마든지 진출할 수 있다. 특히 우리 회사는 건축만이 아니고 소프트웨어, 정보기술, 통신, 그린 에너지 등으로 영역을 확장해 나가고 있다”고 말했다.

 데니스 CFO는 “콩코드는 캐나다 전역에서 지난 30년간 130여 개의 주거 및 복합용도 빌딩, 그리고 50여 개의 다양한 개발을 성공적으로 이룬 회사다. 항상 최상의 개발을 추구하기 때문에 고객에게 최고의 생활공간을 제공한다. 앞으로도 로열르페이지 뉴컨셉 한인부동산회사와 함께 협력 발전하고자 한다”고 말했다.

Canada's renowned builder, Concord Adex emphasizes in building a stronger business relationship with Royal LePage New Concept

On May 3rd, John Cho, owner/broker of the record of Royal LePage New Concept met with Dennis Au-Yeung (CFO at Concord Adex) and Isaac Chan (VP of sales at Concord Adex).
 

Concord Adex is one of the most renowned builders in Canada. The meeting's venue was at the Concord Presentation Centre, located at 88 Queens Wharf Rd. From the very start of the meeting, Mr. Cho and Mr. Au-Yeung cracked a joke and reminisced about their past memories together, exhibiting their 20 years of relationship.

Mr. Au-Yeung told a story of meeting John and his wife at a Korean restaurant, and Mr. Chan soon followed with a story of an encounter with Cho and his family along with a few sales people from Royal LePage New Concept at a restaurant on Yonge Street about 5 years ago, recollecting the memory of fine dining, beer and good conversation.

Richarad Cho (manager at Royal LePage New Concept/ lawyer) and Christine Moon (broker at Royal LePage New Concept) also joined the meeting.

According to Mr. Au-Yeung, Concord started its business as a real estate developer from Vancouver. After the Expo (the world fair held in 1986 in Vancouver), Concord acquired the entire 204 acres of the downtown Expo grounds in 1987. With a vision of building a community, Concord built about 5 billion dollars worth of luxury high-rise condominiums, providing nearly 10,000 residential units in downtown Vancouver which put the name 'Concord' on the map as a well-known, reputable builder in Canada.

After 10 years of expertise in building residential high-rise in Vancouver, Concord has started a development in Toronto in the late 1997. With over 45 acres of land near Spadina Avenue and Front Street, Concord envisioned another community with an eco-friendly building for people in downtown Toronto.

Concord City Place was the name and under the theme of 'Urban Oasis', Concord City Place offered over 12,000 homes for people in the waterfront community along with a beautiful Canoe Landing park and the breath taking lake view suites for residents.

Canada House is the newest high-rise condominium project, near CN Tower and Rogers Centre, by Concord City Place. The 2 skyscrapers (78 and 69 storey) at 23 Spadina Avenue will redefine Toronto's waterfront skylines when completed.

 In North York, a densely populated area for Koreans, Concord is building a community with 5000 residential units in its 45-acre parcels of land, named Concord Park Place. Nestled in Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue, Concord Park Place community offers its residents easy access to major highways (401, 404 and DVP), 2 subway stations, Go train station and the convenience of being steps away from North York General Hospital.

Behind Bessarion subway station, an 8-acre public park will be constructed along with a community centre, daycare facilities, retail stores and schools.

Concord Park Place started its massive condominium projects, staring with Discovery condo in 2011. Soon after Discovery, Tango and Tango 2 launched and Opus, Omega, Seasons and Saisons have also launched in timely manner. Opus and Omega condos will be completed this year while Seasons and Saisons condos are scheduled for completion next year.

Lastly, the impeccable luxury of King's Landing condo will once again put Concord Park Place on a pedestal for its superb workmanship.

In addition to the 8-acre parkland located on the south side of King's Landing, Bessarion Community centre, the biggest community centre in Toronto will be constructed.

Bessarion Community Centre (209,000 sq.ft in size) will be built on a parcel of land on a former Canadian Tire-Owned property at 1011 Sheppard Avenue East. Concord bought the land and gave it to the City of Toronto as a parkland dedication to build a community centre.

BCC will be an immense 3 storey building with a huge library, public kindergarten, swimming pool, recreation facilities of 38,000 sq.ft and parking lot of 196 parking spaces.

"Toronto is an international city with strong infrastructure and we would like to focus our developments here in Toronto. However, we are open to developments outside of Toronto, as long as there is potential for future growth. Concord's aim is not only limited to real estate developments, but our focus further extends to other fields such as software, information technology, communication and green energy" said Mr. Chan.

"In the last three decades, Concord has built over 130 residential, multi-purpose buildings and we have succeeded in developing over 50 various types of development projects. We always strive to improve ourselves, trying to deliver the best product to our clients" said Mr. Au- Yeung.
