Today, I have arranged some books to make a little more space for our condo, and suddenly this book got my attention which is "A History of Reading" written by Alberto Manguel who immigrated to Canada like us.

It was written a long time ago, since our son gave me this book on Mother's Day, May, 8th, 2005, with short writing was behind on the last page of the book.

A mother is kind when the world seems cold.

A mother is a comfort when you need a hand to hold.

A mother is a guide when you are not sure where to turn.

A mother is understanding when you need a friendly ear.

18 years later, I am not so sure what kind of mother was to our children. However, according to this book, St. Mary, the mother of God also taught their child, Jesus how to read, yet, history is not sure that he learned how to write, which is why 33 years of his lifetime, he only drew the 3 fishes on the sand.

Another interesting story is St. Augustine was the first eye-scanned reader which discovered by St. Ambrose.

Maybe at that time, owning a book is very expensive, so any reader read the book loudly, and everyone can listen.

And some point in history time, black people were prohibited by owners have not read books.

In the book, society could exist without writing, yet, can not exist without reading the book.

There are so many kinds of interesting stories or history written, it is hard to put down this book. I would like to introduce to you this wonderful book.0

Reading, almost as much as breathing, is our essential function.

The history of reading is the history of each of its readers.

What is written remains, what is spoken vanishes into the air.

Reading is a form of thinking and speaking.

Since all of humankind desires knowledge and has a short time to live, it must rely on the knowledge gathered by others to increase the wealth of knowledge. Human beings made in the image of God, are also books to be read, and we are what we read. As Luther had taught, the salvation of the soul depends on each individual's ability to read God's word for themself.

S ince reading is very beneficial as become wise mothers, we have to read more books on Mother's Day.
