Position Title: Project Coordinator

 

Reports to: Family Team Leader

 

Details: Full-time (40 hours/week), September 1, 2017 – August 1, 2018  

 

Salary: $45,000-50,000

Program Summary:

 

KCWA Family Team is dedicated to providing confidential individual, couple, and family counseling; crisis support counseling and transitional housing and support to survivors of domestic violence; and deliver preventive psychoeducational seminars/workshops mainly to members of the Korean-Canadian community.

 

 

 

Champions for Youth project will be an integral part of Family Team services. The project aims to provide education to Korean-speaking parents, caregivers, and adult allies to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to support Korean newcomer youth become healthy and resilient. The Project Coordinator will closely work with Family Team Leader and Evaluation Consultant to develop project work plan, outreach and implementation strategy, evaluation framework, implement project deliverables, and accomplish project milestones and evaluation requirements.

 

 

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

 

Development of Workshop Materials & Group Facilitation  

 

 

  • Develop of a 6-session workshop curriculum customized for the Korean-speaking parents, caregivers, and adult allies aged 26-65 pertaining to individual, family, and environmental factors that contribute to positive youth development and resiliency.

     

    ·         Organize, coordinate, and facilitate a total of 8 sets of 6-session workshops to 15 participants per session 

     

    ·         Organize, coordinate, and facilitate a participant graduation event and funder recognition event

     

     

     

    Project Outreach and Network Development

     

    ·         Develop outreach materials and execute outreach plan to promote project

     

    ·         Organize and mobilize community stakeholders to participate in the workshop

     

    ·         Promote and facilitate development of collaborative relationships with other Korean-serving agencies and faith groups

     

    ·         Facilitate development of supportive network among participants and create a dynamic space for learning

     

     

     

    Evaluation and Administrative Duties

     

     

    • Develop of an evaluation framework with the Evaluation Consultant to measure the below learning objectives throughout the project period:

       

      -       To learn the feasibility of this project in providing ethnic Korean adults with the knowledge and skills necessary to raise youths with emotional and social strengths

       

      -       To learn about the challenges participants experience raising and supporting youth as Canadian immigrants

       

      -       To learn about the Korean community’s capacity to be mobilized for future youth-targeting programs

       

       

      • Report project progress and write report evaluation reports for funder

         

      • Provide weekly project updates and progress to the Family Team Leader

         

      • Enter project-related data into the data management system

         

        ·         Complete necessary administrative work and documentations as required

         

        ·         Participate in staff and Family Team meetings, training, and professional development sessions

         

        ·         Maintain cooperative working relationships and participation in the general operation of the organization

         

        ·         Operate in an unbiased and non-judgmental manner, consistent with the philosophy of the service of KCWA

         

        ·         To adhere to policies on confidentiality and human rights and all other policies, routines, and procedures established by KCWA

         

         

         

         

        Qualifications:

         

         

        • A post-secondary degree in the human services field, preferably in the area of child and youth and at least 2 years of experience in social services/community sector

           

        • Combined knowledge and understanding of project management, community development, case management with newcomer population required 

           

        • Excellent stakeholder engagement, community outreach and group facilitation skills required

           

        • Experience managing or working through change in a dynamic work environment/conditions

           

        • Experience working from an outcome-based perspective and a thorough understanding of evaluation and data collection

           

        • Experience working with newcomer parents and newcomer youth facing settlement and integration challenges considered a strong asset

           

        • Experience developing curriculum in a non-profit and/or community-based (local and international) context considered an asset

           

        • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to demonstrate flexibility, cope with competing demands, and meet deadlines

           

        • Works effectively with others in the organization and external to the organization to accomplish organizational and community goals

           

        • Strong administrative, organizational and time-management skills, professional communication skills and the ability to multi-task

           

        • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Korean and English

           

        • Computer literacy is a requirement (Korean and English)

          Working Relationships: 

           

          ·         Works under supervision from the Family Team Leader  

           

          ·         This position interacts with clients, staff, supervisors, volunteers, general public, partner organizations, corporate partners, and other organizations

           

           

           

          Working Condition:

           

          ·         Hours of work: Works regular hours from 9am-5:30pm or 9:30am-6pm with some requirements to work extended hours occasionally

           

          ·         Location: This position works out of the Head Office at 27 Madison Avenue and may be required to work from other locations based on funders or programs changing requirements. Frequent travel within the GTA required.
